High Speed Passenger Catamaran

Performance improvements by means of propulsion conversion & hull extension:

Concept engineering of conversion from waterjet to propeller propulsion for the high speed passenger catamaran Bay Breeze, in collaboration with Hage-Marine & Walther Engineering. Propulsion efficiency was improved by conversion to propellers and vessel resistance was reduced by extension of the hulls at the stern, including propeller tunnels with hooked buttocks to induce supplemental lift. The conversion was completed in 2014 by Marine Group for the vessel’s current operator, the San Francisco Bay’s Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA). An increase from 25 knot to 27 knot operating speed was achieved.
